The 'Tik Tok' hitmaker has collaborated with Zedd to re-release a version of his song, 'True Colors' - her first new track in over three years.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "#truecolors spoke to me so deeply I had to spread the beautiful message of personal empowerment ...

"this is more than a song. it's a declaration of my truth #truecolors (sic)"

The 29-year-old singer is currently locked in a legal battle with her record label as she fights to be released from her contract over allegations she was sexually assaulted by Dr. Luke.

An appeal, which she launched against a court decision that she must remain in her contract with the record company, was declined earlier this month.

Speaking at the hearing, the judge said: "Although [Luke's] alleged actions were directed to Kesha, who is female, [her claims] do no allege that [Luke] harbored animus toward women or was motivated by gender animus when he allegedly behaved violently toward Kesha ... Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime."

Meanwhile, Kesha has been asked to testify under oath about the allegations she has made against the 42-year-old record producer. She was issued a subpoena to be questioned in an on-camera deposition in New York City in June.

And Zedd has also taken to Twitter to confirm to Dr. Luke that he had sought permission to record the track with Kesha.

He wrote on the social media site: "ZEDD & KESHA - TRUE COLORS. OFFICIALLY OUT: 4/29 Music can be freedom.

"Just to clarify: We didn't use any loopholes. Kemosable / RCA gave us permission to release. (sic)"
