Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, a source said: "Gaga wants David to perform as she knows what a legend he is and what an amazing talking point it would be. But will he agree to do it?

"Organisers will have a fortune to throw at him. But getting him to say yes might be another matter."

Gaga may have a tough time on her hands getting him to agree, as the isnger hasn't toured since 2004 and last performed live in 2006 for a charity event.

She is still however excited about performing during the Zero G Colony festival in New Mexico at Spaceport America.

"I can't wait to perform in space. I can't wait to design the performance. I'll be the first recording artist to sing in space."

Sources claim that so far 700 passengers will experience two minutes of weightlessness on the trip, and have paid £153,000 for a seat on the Virgin Galactic flight.
