Lorde took out a full page advert in a newspaper in a bid to thank her fans who have supported her and her music.

The 17-year-old singer wrote a message for the New Zealand Herald after picking up two Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (26.01.14) praising those who have helped her and co-writer Joel Little.

The note, which also features a drawing of a Grammy Award, reads: "Hiya. If you are reading this, Joel & I won. HOLY CRAP.

"It was a crazy day & my friends and family over here are still freaking out. I just wanted to say thank you for the time you've given me these past 14 months.

"Finding out about me online or in between these pages or in your headphone.

"Without your support, there's no way I would ever have gotten to stand in the middle of the Staples Centre & perform in my school shoes."

The 'Royals' hitmaker, who performs at Silo Park in Auckland today (29.01.14), added: "I can't wait for tonight's show. Together we'll make it magic. I'll see you there. xxx L"

The star, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, took home awards for Best Solo Pop Performance and Song of the Year for 'Royals' at the 56th annual Grammy Awards.
