Malcolm Young isn't going to return to AC/DC.

The group announced earlier this year that the rhythm guitarist and founding member would take a break from the band because of illness, but it's now been confirmed he's left for good.

A statement reads: "Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band."

The news comes amid the reveal of the group's new album 'Rock Or Bust', released December 1.

That record will be the group's first in six years and was recorded earlier this year, featuring Malcolm and Stevie Young - nephew to guitarist Angus Young - on rhythm guitar.

Stevie is now to take Malcolm's place on tour.

Brian Johnson admitted previously he contemplated naming the LP 'Man Down' in reference to Malcolm's condition.

"But it's a bit negative and it was probably just straight from the heart. I like that" he said.
