Mutya Keisha Siobhan "hate" their comeback being described as a "reunion".

The girl band - made up of original Sugababes members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy, who now go by the name MKS - blame "outside influences" for first splitting them up and insist they are determined to make a fresh start.

They said: "It's great to be back but MKS is not a reunion, we hate that word. We prefer to think of it as a fresh start for us. 'Get better not bitter', that's our motto.

"Everything that happened in Sugababes is way in the past.

"Of course people still want to know about past friction and why we split in the first place, but we were just teenagers at the time.

"It's like your mate coming over and saying, 'Do you remember when you and Barry had a fall-out in year six?'

"Most people wouldn't remember, but because it was played out in the public eye it lingers on.

"Outside influences were pulling us aside individually and saying, 'She doesn't like you' and all that. We really lived that.

"It was only when we sat down together afterwards that we started piecing the puzzle of what happened in the past."

Following their return, MKS have vowed to pay more attention to the business side of the music industry to ensure they have more control over their future.

They added to the Daily Star newspaper: "We feel more confident in ourselves.

"It's hard when you are younger. We didn't care if people wrote about us, we just wanted to sing. "Having more control over the business aspect was crucial for us, plus the people around us now are the people we want to work with."
