Nick Jonas took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday (May 9) and spoke about cancelling his collaborative shows with Demi Lovato in Charlotte and Raleigh on June 30 and July 2, in protest of the anti-LGBT bathroom law (House Bill 2) in the North Carolina state.

The law itself prevents both transgender men and women from using bathrooms that are aligned with the gender they identify as.

Nick explained: "It's an incredibly frustrating situation overall. We are very aware of our strong LGBT community fanbase and the support they've given us and the support we want to give them.

"And this was a time where I feel like we said we have to make a bold statement, put our foot down and stand firm in something we believe in and it's unfortunate for the fans there and for us because we want to go play as many shows as possible.

"But in our minds it's the right thing to do and hopefully our fans will stand united with us."

Despite the cancellations, the tour is still going ahead at all of its other dates, kicking off in Florida on June 24.
