Rancid - founded by 1980s punk veterans Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman - and the 'Hate to Say I Told You So' hitmakers will be joined by fellow pop punk stars Gogol Bordello, The Living End, Beach Slang, SWMRS, Sunflower Bean and Public Access TV at the Royal Park in London on July 1.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong - who is joined by bassist Mike Dirnt, drummer Tré Cool and lead guitarist Jason White in the group - previously said: "London in the summer, us and tens of thousands of fans having the biggest party in one of the world's most legendary venues. We have the best year to look forward to and this has just made it extra special."

James King, Senior Vice President of AEG Live, added: "We're super excited to be announcing Green Day as our first headliner for 2017. So many hits and also some amazing new music as well.

"London is going to be treated to one of the best stadium bands of our generation on the Great Oak Stage in Hyde Park."

BST also sees Phil Collins, The Killers, Justin Bieber, Kings Of Leon and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers headlining in July.

The 'In The Air Tonight' hitmaker will be supported by Blondie, Mike + The Mechanics and Starsailor.
