The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker admitted he worried his Australian tour would be cancelled because his voice had "dried up".

He told Sydney's Daily Telegraph: "It was scary. It was a difficult tour in that respect, a lot of air conditioning and a lot of flying dries you up ...

"I had to be more sensible than I usually am. One [of my hit songs] was in [the setlist] but because my voice went, I couldn't do falsetto. It had to come out ... It'll be different when I come back to Australia in December."

Meanwhile, Ed recently revealed he had been banned from talking and was, instead, forced to communicate with a whiteboard.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "Been told by the vocal doc not to talk at all between shows and they're giving me a white board to communicate with, could prove interesting (sic)"

Despite his tour Down Under not going exactly to plan, whilst in the country, Ed secured himself a cameo in Australian soap 'Neighbours'.

A post on the programme's official Facebook page read: "Look who's been spotted in Summer Bay! Yep, your eyes do not deceive you, world renowned singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran, recently visited the Palm Beach and Eveleigh sets of Channel 5's Home and Away to film scenes for an upcoming episode.

"He will appear as himself in the series, but storyline details about what brings Ed to Summer Bay are being kept under wraps for now. Ed's episode will screen later this year... (sic)"
