Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow has said her songwriting has been made better since she became a mother.

The 'If It Makes You Happy' hitmaker - who adopted two children Wyatt, six, and Levi, three as a single mother - has had to restructure her work schedule to prioritise her children, but despite finding time to write difficult, she says having kids has "enhanced" her work.

Sheryl told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'm always going to write songs and be singing, but motherhood has informed my schedule. It's not like I can get up in the morning in the quiet and write a song.

"In some ways it has enhanced my craft and made it more sensitive, and I look at the world with more of a sense of innocence."

The 51-year-old singer considers herself "lucky" to have had a successful career, but although she is set to release her ninth studio album 'Feels Like Home' on Monday (27.01.14), she is happy being a regular mum.

She mused: "I got to be selfish for a really long time and travel the world. Now I can dedicate my energy to the kids and not feel I'm missing out on any of the things I've wanted to do. I just want to be the best mum I can."
