The 'It's Not Unusual' hitmaker insists he would love to still be performing onstage and recording music when he reaches the milestone age.

He said: "At 75, I'm three-quarters of the way home, hopefully. But I still want to record more stuff, to continue doing shows."

The 75-year-old singer also revealed his grandchildren have no interest in entering the music industry despite his grandson having a great voice.

He added to USA Today: "He's an accountant, and she's an architect. They're very bright people. They can both sing, though. My grandson can sing and play guitar, and he looks like a male model.

"But he doesn't want to make a career of it, which I understand. It's like showing off when you're a kid. Some kids will hide; with me, I was always pulling on my mother's skirt, asking, 'When are they going to ask me to sing?'"

Meanwhile, family is incredibly important to Tom, as he previously revealed he doesn't think he could continue singing if his wife Linda was to die.

He explained: "A lot of the songs that I do, the love songs that I do, of course it's Linda is there and yes, she is the one. I don't want to go on about it but she wasn't well a while ago and she got close to... we didn't know whether she was going to make it or not and I said to Mark [my son] I said, 'If your mother doesn't make it, I don't know whether I can sing' because a lot of the songs that I do, I think of her when I do it so it would be hard if she wasn't there to be able to sing."
