Elvis Costello, Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper and Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds are being considered for this year's induction to the Songwriters' Hall of Fame.

The organisation announced its 2015 nominees and others amongst those being considered include Tom Petty, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Toby Keith and Steven Winwood.

Non-performing songwriters also nominated are those such as Bobby Braddock, Rudy Clark and Rod Temperton, who co-wrote Michael Jackson classic 'Thriller'.

In addition, writing duos Sloan and Steve Barri, Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia, Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, and Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell could also be inducted.

The lucky inductees are to be selected in a gala in New York next June.

2014 inductees include Jim Weatherly ('Midnight Train To Georgia'), Graham Gouldman of 10cc and The Kinks' Ray Davies.
