Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am convinced British singer Cheryl Cole to go solo and take a break from pop band Girls Aloud.

Cole teamed up with the rapper last yea, providing vocals for his single Heartbreaker and appearing in the video as a dancer, and it was after collaborating with the hip-hop star that the sexy singer decided to tackle the pop charts on her own.

The pair has since reunited in the studio and will.i.am has returned the favour, contributing a track to Cole's debut solo album, 3 Words.

She says, "He inspired me to go solo." Before adding; "I wanted to work with will.i.am, which I did, and that's the next single, so that's amazing."
