Primal Scream's new bassist is a "star player from a star team."
The 'Swastika Eyes' group have recently recruited My Bloody Valentine's Debbie Goodge to replace Mani, who has left to rejoin The Stone Roses, and frontman Bobbie Gillespie says brought a different dynamic to the group.
He told Clashmusic.com: "I mean, obviously when you've got as big a personality as Mani it's quite hard for anybody to fill that but Debbie more than does it. But in a different way, her own way. She's quite a big personality as well. I mean, she's coming from a really amazing band - My Bloody Valentine - so it's like we're getting another star player from another star team.
"That's the way I look at it, really. We've done six or seven gigs with Debs now."
Primal Scream opened for The Stone Roses at one of their comeback shows at Heaton Park, Manchester in June, where they debuted a new song, which Bobby says was received well.
He added: "We started the set with a new song, '2012', which is ten minutes long and it sounded great, y'know? Blending 'Swastika Eyes' into that, then 'Moving On Up' and then 'Loaded'. It's just seamless. It's Primal Scream music."
Primal Scream are currently recording their 10th album.
