Arctic Monkeys almost scrapped their forthcoming album after having their lyrics stolen.

Frontman Alex turner was left devastated after someone took his bag, which contained all his ideas for the new record.

He said: "I got my bag robbed six months ago and I lost this notebook. I lost loads, it was all in this brown notebook with a picture of a fox on it. I felt then that there was something coming together but then it went."

Despite the setback, the 'Brianstorm' singer insists it made their songs even better.

He added to NME magazine: "I went out the morning after it was stolen and sat around for a couple of hours trying to remember it all.

"But I found the whole process made me write more things and complete more than I wouldn't have done otherwise."
