Brett Anderson has apparently taken a swipe at Liam Gallagher for being "theme-park rock'n'roll".

The former Suede frontman seems to insist the true meaning of the term "rock'n'roll" is lost on the Oasis singer and claims he is more of a showman than a musician.

He said: "I think rock'n'roll is a load of bulls**t. It's rubbish. It there's anything I would define as rock'n'roll, it's about passion.

"It's not about pretending to be John Lennon and wearing his glasses and getting your hair cut like him. That's theme-park rock'n'roll."

The 41-year-old believes hell raising musicians will regret their actions when they realise they were far more destructive in their careers than they were creative.

He added to NME magazine: "It's not about throwing televisions out of windows, it's not about snorting cocaine off supermodels' bums, it's about expressing yourself and having the bravery to commit your thoughts to vinyl.

"That's what rock'n'roll is."
