Carl Barat is working on a solo album.

The former Dirty Pretty Things and Libertines singer has revealed he has been working on his own material but admits he isn't confident about his prowess as a lone artist.

He added: I've just freed myself up so the last thing I wanna do is completely burden my mind with the reunion

When asked if he was planning a solo album, he said: "We'll see what songs come out of me...

"I think I've got a lot left in me that's been wanting to come out for so long and I've just not really had the guts to do it justice and go out on my own so I'm just trying to force myself to do it."

The 'Bang Bang You're Dead' singer also insisted he had no plans to reform The Libertines, despite former band mate Pete Doherty recently revealing they had been offered £2 million to play the Reading festival.

He added: "I've just freed myself up so the last thing I wanna do is completely burden my mind with the reunion. No, no right now"
