Cerys Matthews' LP Lessons

Cerys Matthews says recording her new album was like "going back to school".

The former Catatonia star released two versions of her latest LP, 'Don't Look Down', one in English and one in Welsh and says she was determined to ensure the translated version was completely accurate.

She said: "The English version is obviously doing better but I'm so glad we did the Welsh version too. I like to challenge myself and that really was a challenge! It was like going back to school, making sure the grammar was just right and stuff - I'm a gluten for punishment but I'm very self determined."

The 40-year-old star - who also presents an afternoon radio show - is currently six months pregnant with her third child but insists she has no plans to slow down.

Asked if she plans to take things easy, she told the Hounslow Chronicle newspaper: "Probably not! I've got responsibilities now and you have to be more careful. I suppose that's why I like putting myself at risk professionally and artistically.

"I'm going to release another single in the New Year but they're the only plans I have - I'm going to work until Christmas. Right now I'm just looking forward to Halloween parties - I love all that, letting the kids dress me up!"
