Coldplay's conventional music

3 months ago 15th May 13:15

Coldplay say they "won't do a Radiohead".

The 'Yellow' hitmakers say they won't follow in the footsteps of Thom Yorke's band or The Raconteurs and release their music in an unconventional manner.

Frontman Chris Martin said: "We have absolute respect for the Radioheads and The Raconteurs and people who can do what they like. We're in contract though, so we're just going to make the most of it and enjoy the people we get to work with."

Radiohead released their last album, 'In Rainbows', on the internet allowing fans to pay as much as they wanted for the tracks, while The Raconteurs gave just a weeks notice about the release of their album, 'Consolers of the Lonely', in March..

Chris also revealed the band don't plan to leave EMI, their record label, at the moment but he is aware it is inevitable they will part ways eventually.

He added: "Being on a major label at the moment is like living in your grandparents' house. Everyone knows they need to move out, and they will eventually, but we kind of like our grandmother.

"It's obviously an antiquated model [being on a major label], because of the internet, but we really love the people we work with. If we knew what the solution was to everything, then we'd do it.
