Dolly Parton's Heartbreaking Music

Dolly Parton’s music is inspired by heartbreak.

Despite being married to partner Carl Dean for over 40 years, the ‘9 to 5’ singer admits that inspiration for her new music is taken from troubles in the past.

She said: “I remember every hurt I ever had. It’s like shelves in a great filing system. ‘Oh, I’m in a funky mood today! I’m gonna write about heartache! So, which kinda heartache is it going to be? Is it heartache number one, two or three?’ “

Discussing her image, Dolly has previously claimed it is her looks that helped make her a success.

She said: "I dress this way for the same reasons I did when I first started doing it. It still comes from a place inside of me.

"I get up in the morning, and I think I just look better a certain way. I do my make-up. I want to shine, I want to glitter.

"I'm just doing it to look like Dolly - the Dolly that I know and the Dolly that you know."
