Pearl Jam's White wish

6 months ago 19th May 13:15

Pearl Jam want to collaborate with Jack White.

The band - who have just started work on the follow up to 2006's 'Pearl Jam' album - headline the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee on June 14 and guitarist Mike McCready says they're hoping to get the White Stripes and Raconteurs frontman to join them onstage.

He said: I'd love to have Jack White up.

"I think he's just a phenomenal guitar player. I'd love to see him play up close because he's got a killer voice and he's a great lead player, too. That would be exciting to me."

Mike admitted that fans should not expect to hear material from their long-awaited new album at the festival or any of the American tour dates they play around the same time.

He added: "We have about 200 songs to pull from, so we'll do that and maybe do some obscure B-sides. For new stuff, I don't know if we have it refined enough to want to play it in front of an audience yet. We don't want to hack in front of everybody."

Pearl Jam are working with long-term collaborator Brendan O'Brien on their new album.
