Kate Nash is "excited" about moving away from pop on her new album.

The 'Foundations' singer is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to her debut LP 'Made of Bricks' and says she is delighted about her efforts so far, promising a "harder" sound.

She said: "It's really cool. I've been doing a lot of writing and I'm excited about getting stuck into new material. It's different and it's fun to be doing something new."

I've done a bunch of demos. I've got about 14 to 16 songs recorded and I'm going to do another session at the end of the month.

Kate is hoping to complete work on the record by the end of summer and says she is now looking for a producer to help finalise the album.

She added to BBC Newsbeat: "I've done a bunch of demos. I've got about 14 to 16 songs recorded and I'm going to do another session at the end of the month."

Kate's second album is scheduled for release towards the end of this year.
