La Roux doesn't think she will win a Mercury Prize.
British singer Elly Jackson - who is joined in La Roux by co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid - isn't expecting to win anything at today's awards (08.09.09) and believes 'Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)' hitmaker Florence and the Machine or 'Skeleton Boy' singers Friendly Fires will scoop the award instead.
She said: "I'm not really expecting anything, I'm expecting to enjoy seeing the other bands play and enjoy playing.
"There are select tracks on Florence and the Machine's album which really get me. And I really like Friendly Fires - they're the right amount of pop and alternative for the Mercurys. It always seems to be the ingredient they like."
It's always cooler to just leave those things isn't it? 'Right, I'm going, got other places to be'
Meanwhile, the British songstress says she will be too busy to celebrate even if she does win.
She explained:"We've got to leave seconds after it ends. We've got to go to France so I don't think it's going to be the party it might be for a lot of people, which is a shame. It's always cooler to just leave those things isn't it? 'Right, I'm going, got other places to be'."
La Roux is due to start her UK tour in November.
