Forgetful Chuck D

1 month ago 20th May 13:15

Chuck D has trouble remembering his lyrics.

Iconic rap star Chuck - real name Carlton Douglas Ridenhour - has reformed his classic rap group Public Enemy to perform their breakthrough album, 1988's 'It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back' in its entirety on their forthcoming tour.

He said: "Just trying to remember all the lyrics is going to be hard. Some people have a gift for that, but I never had. Always found it difficult. We ain't all been together in a room for an age and we got some figuring out to do when we meet up next week. "But, hey, what's the worst thing that can happen? You're going to write a bad review? Ain't no big deal. We're beyond all that now."

Although Chuck D has continued to release music under the Public Enemy name, he has reformed the group's 'classic' line up for the tour, featuring DJ Terminator X and co-rapper Flavour Flav.

Public Enemy will play around the UK at the end of May, including shows at Brixton Academy, London on May 23; Manchester Academy on May 26; and Glasgow ABC1 on May 27.
