No Doubt are touring to overcome writer's block.

The group are set to go out on the road for their first concerts in five years and admit they planned to record a new album first, but struggled for inspiration.

Singer Gwen Stefani said: "We're calling it the procrastination tour."

Bassist Tony Kanal added: "We were in the studio, trying to write but things weren't coming. Gwen was feeling like she couldn't find the place where she wanted to start the writing process. We just need to get out on the road.

We're calling it the procrastination tour.Bassist Tony Kanal added:

"Once the four of us looked at each other and said, 'It's time to play,' the pressure was lifted and we got really excited. It was like four adults became four little kids again. We're giddy about it."

The group have been on hiatus while Gwen - who has two sons, Kingston, two, and Zuma, eight months, with husband Gavin Rossdale - launched a solo career and took time out to raise her family, but the 'Just A Girl' star admits they planned to get back together much sooner.

She told MTV news: "I'm the biggest procrastinator. It's not the rest of the band's fault, it's my fault, because I had this whole game plan: 'OK, I'm gonna go on tour with my last record, I'm gonna come home, I'm gonna get pregnant, I'm gonna have a baby, but while I'm pregnant, I'm gonna make the No Doubt record.' That was, like, the plan, but it all didn't work."
