John Fruscanti listened to advice from "the Gods of music" when working on his solo album.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist has teamed up with guests including his bandmate Flea and former Smiths musician Johnny Marr on 'The Empyrean' and says he often listens to spirit guides in a quest to make a "pure" record.
He explained to Music Radar: "The drive to create music that is pure is my highest priority. Sometimes I'll get extremely technical in my approach, and other times I'll just kind of go with the gods of music.
When asked about his band, the rocker revealed there are no plans
"I think an artist has to answer to whatever spirits are guiding him. Even if they're in conflict, that's OK."
When asked about his band, the rocker revealed there are "no plans" for the Red Hot Chili Peppers - who have been on a hiatus since last year - to record together in the future.
