Smashing Pumpkins will continue without Jimmy Chamberlin.
Frontman Billy Corgan insists the group intend to go forward with their plans to tour and record another album, despite the drummer's departure.
In a statement on the group's website, Billy - who along with Jimmy was the only founding member left in the band - promised he "will continue to write and record as Smashing Pumpkins with plans to head into the studio this spring."
Jimmy joined the group in 1988 and appeared on every album except 1998's 'Adore'.
When the band broke up in 2000, Jimmy and Billy went on to form Zwan before getting their original band back together five years later.
The band released their last album, 'Zeitgeist', in 2007.
