The Kinks have started work on a new album.
The 'Lola' hitmakers' singer Ray Davies revealed in September that the band were thinking about a reunion and has now confirmed they have gone into the studio - but admits he isn't sure if their efforts will be good enough to release.
Ray said: "We've started a little bit of this and that. But it is too early to judge the quality. It depends if there's good music. We want good new music. I'd like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do."

The frontman says he would love to work with younger artists, including Razorlight star Johnny Borrell.
He added: "I'd love to do something with Johnny, but I'd like to find new bands. Unsigned even. I usually like the underdogs.
"We'll see how it works out - a mixture of Snow Patrol and Chuck Berry. It should be an interesting record."
The Kinks formed in 1963 with a line-up consisting of Ray and his guitarist brother Dave, Pete Quaife on bass and Mick Avory on drums. However, they had several line-up changes over the years and by the time they eventually split in 1996, only Ray and Dave were original members.
