The Strokes think music should be free.

The band's drummer Fabrizio Moretti insists that artists' work should be readily available but denies he is advocating illegal downloading.

He said: "I'm not condoning the act of taking music illegally, but I am condoning the idea that music should be free.

He added to website The Quietus: I wouldn't rule out doing a Bond theme, just like I wouldn't rule out bungee jumping, but I don't think anyone's going to ask me to bungee jump any time soon

"Come on. Music should be free! Music has been a form of expression since before, I dunno, since before we could even form a sentence properly. You know what I mean? Why should it cost anything now that it's at a professional level?

"No, you know, if you play enough good music for enough good people, I feel like it does pay for itself, you know? Somehow along the way."

The musician also revealed he would like to record a 'James Bond' theme but doesn't believe he would ever be asked.

He added to website The Quietus: "I wouldn't rule out doing a Bond theme, just like I wouldn't rule out bungee jumping, but I don't think anyone's going to ask me to bungee jump any time soon."
