Atoms for Peace generated a "lot of crap" when they started out.
The band - made up of producer Nigel Godrich, Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and respected percussionists Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco - released their debut album, 'Amok', earlier this year, but Nigel admits their initial ideas for songs didn't always work.
He told music streaming service Soundhalo's digital magazine Middle 8: "We generated a lot of crap."
The resulting album sees a number of different musical genres and styles collide, and Thom has a hard time classifying and describing their music.
He added: "I don't even know what it is - it's so hard to explain. I could take a whole interview just trying to explain what we are and how we do what we do. It's pretty complicated, actually. And it's been hard to get that across to people."
Thom also hates it when people call Atoms for Peace a supergroup, and is so incensed by the term he has previously threatened to "f**king knock [the] teeth out" of whoever dares to call them one.
