Damon Albarn will release his solo album before Blur record their new album.
The 45-year-old star - who is currently on a world tour with Blur - has confirmed they are working on new songs for an eighth studio album, but it won't be released for a while yet.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Damon said: "Blur will work on a new album after the solo release."
The record will be the first full album from Blur - which includes Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree - since 2003's 'Think Tank'. However, since they ended a hiatus in 2008 the band have released standalone tracks 'Fool's Day', 'The Puritan' and 'Under The Westway'.
Damon has already recorded the material which makes up his first ever solo album.
Speaking of the record, he said: "You can hear a lot, what's going on. It's quite intimate."
Damon has previously talked about collaborating with producer Richard Russell for the album.
He said: "Making a solo record can be such a disaster, so I thought if we're going to make a record with my name on it, I should get someone to really produce it - take that responsibility away from myself. Richard does the kind of rhythmic side of it and I do everything else."
