Katy Perry "warns" men not to fall in love with her on her new single 'Dark Horse'.

The 'Roar' hit-maker said the hip-hop inspired pop track, featuring rapper Juicy J, carries "witchy and dark" themes after fans chose the song over 'Walking on Air' to have an early release on September 17, ahead of her fourth studio album 'Prism'.

Katy - who is currently dating musician John Mayer- told MTV News: "It's kind of a juxtaposition. It's got me, a pop artist, with a little bit of an urban kind of hip-hop-flavoured background soundtrack to it, and the lyrics are kind of witchy and dark, as if I was a witch warning this man not to fall in love with me, and if you do know I'm going to be your last."

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter collaborated with producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin, while she wrote the lyrics with her friend Sarah Hudson in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California.

Fans will have to wait until 'Prism' is released on October 22 before they hear 'Walking on Air' in full.

The track was inspired by CeCe Peniston's 1991 hit single, 'Finally' after she and a friend watched a group of people roller-blading to deep house.

Katy said: " I looked at her and I said, 'I have to do a song like that, I was like I really want to bring that authentic 90's deep house song styling back."
