One Direction

One Direction have written the majority of songs on their third album.

The 'Little Things' hitmakers - Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik - admit it is a risk being the main writers on a record for the first time, and the boy band are anticipating getting panned for their efforts.

Louis said: "We wrote three songs on the last album ['Take Me Home'] but this is different. Liam and I have been spending our days off writing.

"It will be interesting to hear what people make of it but you'll always get criticised."

Harry told The Sun newspaper: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it's easy to hate One Direction."

McFly recently travelled to Belfast to pen tracks with One Direction for their as-yet untitled new album, and bassist Dougie Poynter admitted Niall was most involved in the songwriting sessions.

He said: "It hasn't got a title at the moment but we wrote the song with Niall. He's got some good ideas so had a lot of input."

Harry, who was recently given songwriting advice from Gary Barlow, has also been penning tunes with Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol.

Gary recently said: "We wrote with Harry. It was a lot of fun. He's a real dude actually. We've no idea if those songs will make it yet, though.

"It's a long process. It's great to work with other people - it's good to flex the muscle."
