Tiësto claims Daft Punk's "music doesn't deliver on the hype".

The DJ - recently named the richest in the world, and voted best in the world in numerous polls - has slammed the secretive French duo, who dress up as robots in public, saying their new album 'Random Access Memories' isn't as good as people think.

He told the Huffington Post: "The 'Tron' soundtrack wasn't that great and this is not great, either.

"But because it's Daft Punk and they're supposed to be cool and they had the amazing pyramid at Coachella [festival] a couple of years ago and the helmets - they're f***ing cool. But the music doesn't deliver on the hype so much.

"It got so much attention because it's so different and it's an attitude album. It's cool to like Daft Punk. Even if you're not into the song, as soon as you hear 'Get Lucky', you see all the cool people go, 'Oh yeah, this is cool, that's my song,' and they don't really even enjoy it."

However, Tiësto - real name Tijs Michiel Verwest - added he likes some of Daft Punk's earlier material, such as their 'Homework' album, and solo releases by the group's Thomas Bangalter on his Roulé label, and said he had a good time when he recently met their collaborator, Giorgio Moroder, when he came to one of his concerts.

He said: "He's one of my youth heroes. He came to my show and he stayed the whole set; I played for three hours and he was there for three hours. He's in his seventies and still rocking strong. I was honoured that he came, actually."
