Tom Ravenscroft presents innovative new music showChannel 4 Radio is the home of SlashMusic, an innovative weekly music show featuring the most original unsigned talent from across the UK. The show is presented by Tom Ravenscroft and is available now on www.channel4radio.com.Produced by Koink Productions, SlashMusic brings underground new music to the Channel 4 Radio audience in an unpretentious and succinct 45 minute weekly show.

The emphasis of the programme is firmly on music, highlighting the brightest new talent around and presented with the dry wit and informed opinion of Ravenscroft. The bands and artists featured in SlashMusic are hand picked by Ravenscroft from www.channel4.com/music, Channel 4’s music website where over 12,000 unsigned bands and artists have uploaded tracks and videos that are showcased on the site. Channel4.com/music also features track-listings, background information and fan forums relating to the programme.Tom Ravenscroft, presenter of SlashMusic, said: "I'm very excited about SlashMusic and delighted that Channel 4 Radio has given me the opportunity to spread my passion for music by allowing me to create the programme that I want. The aim of SlashMusic is to give exposure to the vast amount of fantastic music out there that is relatively unknown - a subject close to my heart. And it will be all letting the music speak for itself rather than have me or anyone else talk all over it. "I hope that the show will offer something different to the music loving audience and that people will get as much pleasure from listening as we get from making the programme."

Miles Eames, Programme Commissioner at Channel 4 Radio, said: "When we launched Channel 4 Radio we said we wanted to bring something fresh and different to digital radio and with Tom and the vast amount of unsigned talent on channel4.com/music we’ve certainly achieved this with SlashMusic. The show will act as a showcase for some of the best undiscovered music talent in the UK. Tom’s heritage and knowledge of music is second to none and we hope that SlashMusic will be come a must-hear programme for music lovers looking for something genuinely different."

Tom Ravenscroft works in TV and music journalism. He has written for music magazines around the world - including America and Australia - as well as The Times in the UK. He is soon to begin writing about music for the New Statesman. As the son of legendary DJ John Peel, Ravenscroft has had one of the most musical upbringings anyone could hope for. He saw Nirvana at Reading when he was 11 and has been dropped off to work by The White Stripes in their tour bus. He has interviewed Elton John, played football with Damon Albarn and was babysat by Babes in Toyland at Reading.

Back by popular demand, SlashMusic is now in it’s third series, and can be listened to on www.channel4radio.com.
