Justin Timberlake has the smell of success after signing up to create a new Givenchy scent.

The pop star once turned down a fragrance deal with the luxury cosmetic brand, but now he's the face of the company's new Play fragrance.

However, Timberlake is still a little puzzled as to why Givenchy bosses were so keen to sign him up - because he's not really a cologne man. He says, "I think, honestly, they took it as a challenge to create something that I would really want to wear.

"I'm sort of a minimalist, quintessential male. I like pretty fresh, clean scents. I don't like a barrage of smell. I sort of feel like nothing should take away from pheromones, because it's been chemically proven that those are the most attractive scents on people."

The fragrance has just gone on sale at stores across America.
