Patti Yang

Patti Yang made her debut as a solo artist in the UK in 2012, when she teamed up with Hurt’s breakthrough producer Joe Cross to release two EPs, ‘Wires and Sparks’ and ‘Hold Your Horses’.

The result was an eclectic and adventurous sounding pop record that was talked up by both XFM’s X-Posure and Radio 6.

Jagz Kooner and Autokratz provided remixes to both releases that were enthusiastically reviewed by electronic and dance press such as DJ Mag and Mixmag, intensifying the attention of the online press and fans alike.

Shortly after releasing her last EP, Patti disappeared into the studio to work on the follow up. The result is a new self-produced full length album due for a UK release later this year.

I Am Ready, featured as a free download above, is a taster track which illustrates Patti’s natural lean towards leftfield sounds.

She pushes the boundaries in combining electronics with live instrumentation, achieving a lush blend of ice-cool textured soundscapes with a hint of the psychedelic heritage of the Californian desert that became Patti’s inspirational home-away-from-home during the making of the album.

Patti’s impressive CV showcases solo support for Depeche Mode and over 10 film-score credits as well as being named the Sunday Times second most important breakthrough act and making it onto theIndependent’s round up of the best new experimental electronic artists under her past guises, Flykkiller and Children.

Last year’s EPs drew comparisons to Bjork, Nikki and the Dove and Icona Pop but delving deep into her musical artillery, Patti will this year deliver a body of work which stands out with its unique production sound and her signature emotionally brave and poignant lyrics.

Patti is rehearsing with a new band and will announce her first live show shortly.
