On today’s daily rap we see Drake slowing down after a knee injury, 50 given a fame check when it turns out fans aren’t actually waiting to meet him, and Usher tipped as the new Michael Jackson by Jay-Z.

Drake Slows Down After Knee Injury

Hip-hop sensation Drake has calmed down his wild live performances because he doesn't want to aggravate his shattered knee.

The Best I Ever Had hitmaker had to sit out of a tour last year after badly injuring his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a stage fall - and he doesn't want to put himself through the pain again.

He says, "It's not gonna be the same Drake jumping on speakers and and running to each side of the stage... I'm gonna have to get a little Jay-Z influence on my performance style; hopefully my records will be powerful enough to carry the show."

But Drake, who performed with Eminem and Lil Wayne at Sunday's Grammy Awards, admits he isn't bitter about having to sit out of his tour just as his career was taking off - he believes everything happens for a reason.

He tells Complex magazine, "I was going so hard that the only way I could have ever slowed down was for something extremely painful to happen. "I'm just glad I only tore my ACL and didn't get shot or stabbed or anything."

50 Cent’s Reality Check

50 Cent was given a reality check on the set of his new movie Tweleve after realising the female fans gathered outside his trailer weren't screaming for him - they were cheering for his co-star Chace Crawford.

The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, appears alongside Emma Roberts, Ellen Barkin, Zoe Kravitz and the Gossip Girl hunk in the Joel Schumacher drama about a young drug dealer and his struggles.

The hip-hop superstar assumed the crowds of fans waiting on set were there to welcome him on his first day of shooting - but was forced to check his ego when he saw who they were really going crazy for.

He tells the New York Daily News, "I made a fool of myself the first day of shooting. I got to my trailer and saw this huge crowd of girls screaming. I stopped and was kind of having a moment. Then I turned around, and Chace was behind me, and that's who they were freaking out for."

50 Cent insists he was not annoyed by the mix-up, but jokes, "I remember thinking, 'What kind of bulls**t is this?!'"

But the rapper has no reason to complain - Twelve, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah last month, has been bought for distribution by media firm Hannover House for a reported $2 million (£1.25 million).

Jay-Z Tips Usher As New King Of Pop

Jay-Z was so impressed with Usher’s tribute to Michael Jackson at Sunday night's Grammy Awards, he's tipped the R&B star to become the new King Of Pop.

The Yeah! hitmaker joined Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood to perform Jackson's Earth Song at the annual awards ceremony.

The 99 Problems star was watching from the audience at Los Angeles' Staples Center - and he predicts a groundbreaking future for Usher. He tells FemaleFirst; “I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job.

"I think he’s… He’s one of the guys that’s in line to, you know, fill those huge shoes. I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to do that.”
