In our midweek catch up of all things Hip-Hop and R&&B check out he Boss of Miami is blasted for wearing Louis Vuitton shades on the cover of a US magazine, 50 cent has to deal with disappointing sales of second video game, Cam'ron came close to retirement and Akon lands a new gig.

XXL Blasted by Louis Vuitton

Harris Publications flag ship magazine XXL has been blasted by Louis Vuitton for their May cover.

 Sporting alleged Louis Vuitton shades Rick Ross and the magazine came under fire from the high end fashion house who wrote a letter of complaint about the rapper wearing what they deemed to be counterfeit shades using the LV logo.

The alleged designer of the shades has since come forward saying that he had 'customized' a pair of authentic shades for the cover shoot.

Rick Ross has been in the midst of controversy lately after it came to light that he had actually worked as a corrections officer before pursuing a career in music.

Blood on the Sand has disappointing Sales

50 Cent's second video game has suffered from low sales after being released in late February.

The video game which features characters similar to 50 Cent and other members of G Unit has sold only 56,000 copies since its release which compared to his last video game offering is a considerable drop.

In the same period of time, Bulletproof sold over 600,000 copies. The recession has been factored in as the main reason as to why the video game has not been as successful as its predecessor.

Cam'ron talks retirement

Rapper Cam'Ron who released his highly anticipated album Crime Pays yesterday through Asylum Records recently told MTV news that he was almost close to retirement back in 2007 when his mother suffered a series of strokes.

Putting his family first encouraged a rift between himself and his Diplomat family which includes Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zeekey who have all spoke out about the rapper and his business ethics since he faded into the background after a public battle with 50 Cent.

"During that time period (hiatus), I'd be somewhere eating, thinking of some rhymes. Or I'd be in my living room, thinking of some rhymes. I can't stop even if I wanted to stop. It doesn't matter where I'm at - if I'm somewhere sitting still for more than an hour, rhymes start popping in my head. It's just kind of instilled in me."

It has been rumoured that the Diplomats may reunite at a concert in NY in the Summer, but that has yet to be confirmed.

FIFA take on Akon

Song-writer/producer Akon who has helped launch the careers of T Pain and Lady Ga Ga has been taken on board by FIFA, as Director of Music for next years World Cup which is taking place in South Africa.

Akon will be responsible for creating the theme tune for the event as well as directing all the music at the various ceremonies.

Akon an avid soccer fan has indicated that he will be supporting the home county at the event.
