In our mid week peek into what’s going on in the world of urban music we discover Omarion has linked with Lil Wayne, Styles P picks up the pen for more than a rhyme, more legal woes for the Cash Money boss and DMX will be back behind bars yet again.

Omarion gets with Weezy

Former B2K singer Omarion has signed with Lil Wayne’s label Young Money it has been announced.

The singer famed for tracks such as Ice Box joins the Universal/Young Money imprint with a roster that features Drake, Harlem’s Jae Millz and Brooklyn femcee Nicki Minaj.

Omarion is said to be working on his third solo album which will be released through his new label home.

Styles P pens Novel

Linking up with Random House and acclaimed urban writer Nicki Turner, the Lox front man is putting pen to paper and working on a novel.

Entitled Mr. Invincible the book will be the rappers first attempt at writing something other than the raps he is notorious for. Talking about the process of writing the book, Styles P told XXL “They got a little editing team but all the writing is me, all the idea is me, all the thought is me.”

The release date for Mr. Invincible is yet to be determined.

Baby sued over Birdman Royalties

Having attracted their fair share of lawsuits over the years, it looks like the founder of Cash Money Records, Bryan ‘Baby’ Williams has another to deal with.

The mogul/rapper has been sued by the owner of the person who owns the trademark for the name ‘Birdman’ Finnish business man Jari Kuosma.

Kuosma had granted the New Orleans born Williams permission to use the name Birdman for a line of shoes in return for 35% of the royalties. It was agreed when paper work was available that the European businessman would receive $217, 992.39 which would be repaid in six monthly installments.

As of yet no payments have been made and Kuosma is now taking further legal action to recover the debt.

Back to Jail for DMX

Only a matter of weeks since he was released from the Tent City jail in Arizona, DMX will be  sentenced again to time in jail after accepting a plea deal for a charge to which he had already pleaded not guilty.

The charge of attempted aggravated assault comes after the rapper had a disagreement with a guard in the prison during his 90 day sentence for a string of offences, earlier this year.

DMX who is supposed to be heading out on the road this year as one of the main acts of The Ambush Tour along with Rah Digga, Beanie Sigel and Freeway will be sentenced on Monday.
