Kelis in Labor
In a sad twist to the marital woes of Kelis and rapper Nas, sources have revealed that the Hip-Hop is Dead rapper was denied entry to witness the birth of his son yesterday.
Kelis who went into labor yesterday morning has yet to give birth. It is unclear as to why the rapper has not been allowed entry to the birthing suite of the NY hospital where Kelis is.
The duo are currently deeply embroiled in a legal battle over child support and alimony.
Young Berg in Hot Water
A female has filed charges of assault against rapper Young Berg in Los Angeles it has been disclosed.
Chelsea Berry has accused the rapper of slapping her and then dumping her in the middle of nowhere after breaking her cell phone, preventing her from calling for help.
The female in question had been at a gathering at the house and had allegedly become jealous when the rappers attention had fallen upon another female.
Playing by the book, the LAPD have insisted that the names and the facts of this domestic dispute will not be made public.
No comment has been made on behalf of Young Berg however.
Danyel Smith says it was Expected
After fourteen years on newsstands it was a sad day last month when word broke that Vibe Magazine, founded by Quincy Jones, was to cease printing.
However the former EIC who manned the controls at the publication for the last three years, Danyel Smith recently spoke in an interview about the closure.
Talking to Angela Yee on Shade 45, Ms. Smith explained “Was it a complete surprise to me that day? No, I don't think it was for any of my fantastic staff.
We had already gone down to four days a week ... we were all making sacrifices because we really wanted the brand to live. We were all strategizing and working really hard and I'm just really really broken-hearted. There'll be a bounce back, there's no question about that," she continued.
Vibe magazine follows in the footsteps of many other print publications who have suffered at the hands of both the recession and the use of the internet. The Vibe brand will continue to live through its online portal Vibe.com
Jay Z Denies Chris Brown Shut Down
After being rumored to have been the cause of Chris Brown’s absence in the Michael Jackson tribute at the BET Awards last month, Brooklyn rapper/mogul Jay Z has denied any involvement.
Talking to 1Xtra DJ Tim Westwood with whom the rapper has quite a good relationship, Jay Z firmly stated that he was nothing to do with Brown being omitted from the performance.
Talking live on air Jigga said “First, let me categorically deny that. That's not even my style. If I got a problem with Chris Brown, I got a problem with Chris Brown. I haven't said anything - I haven't said anything live, or behind the scenes. Whatever. I don't agree with what he did, and that's it."
Jay Z also commented during the interview on the recent verbal tauntings he has received from the Game, citing that the West Coast rapper is mad about something that didn’t even refer to him. Jay Z concluded with ‘Tell groupie to get over it.’
Jay Z is currently working on his Blueprint 3 album.
