Madina Lake By Andy Squire

Madina Lake By Andy Squire

After spending Friday afternoon hanging out with the gorgeous foursome in Madina Lake (I honestly can’t decide which one was the hottest!) I finally got to see the guys perform their live show… and wow… what a show it was.

Firstly, I must point out then when I got to the gig at 3pm, there were already die hard fans queuing outside, so I knew there was something exciting in store; possibly the fit singer from The Audition, possibly not…

Did I just give that away? Yeah, The Audition have replaced the uber-cool kill Hannah as tour support and as I missed them the last time they rolled up in Manchester (just a few months ago) I was super excited to see what they had in store for me this time…

Clad in a very grown up outfit, Danny Stevens looks as hot as imagined him to be as he flashed his very expensive looking watch around on stage and thrashed his head about as the crowd eagerly chanted back line after line from their back catalogue.

Their half hour set was packed full of energy, despite the fact that the room was filled with damp sweat and sent the temperature to a roasting million degrees… which I thought would be as good a reason as any for the band to get naked… but sadly, they didn’t.

Anyway, 9pm came and it was time for the main event, which I was uber-excited for, until I saw Nathan wandering onto the stage without any shoes on - now there’s a real disaster waiting to happen… unsurprisingly, as I got to the dressing room after the show, he was bandaging his feet up.

As far as the show went, the boys were on top form, belting out hit after hit from their new album Attics To Eden, as well as a mighty handful of tracks from their first album, From Them, Through Us, To you and to be honest, I really don’t think Nathan Leone, Mateo Camargo, Matthew Leone and Dan Torelli could have given any more than they did that night.

Every song was delivered with exquisite precision, and about as much power as a tidal wave heading to take out the most astute of surfers, on more than one occasion, Nathan launched himself into the screaming crowd, to let himself be mauled for a good five minutes and give the fans their money’s worth.

I know they’ve only just hoiked themselves onto the Radio One play list, but for the people in Manchester on Friday night, it wasn’t about being popular or giving a shit what loudmouth Chris Moyles had to say, it was about fans sharing decent music on a Friday night, and if that’s what happens when fan’s get it together, count me in for every weekend.
