Boy have seen their star rise incredibly quickly after becoming an online sensation with their debut track Little Numbers, which was a huge hit on YouTube.

Not the duo is back with their debut album Mutual Friends, a very personal album that follows how these two girls met and became friends.

This is a fantastic album that is filled with infectious and quirky pop tracks and it is not hard to see why they have been taking the rest of Europe by storm.

This Is The Beginning is the opening track on the album and it is a simple and quite stripped back sound for a first track but it really works really well.

While they do have a pop song you immediately discover that Boy are not your conventional artists in this genre as they are willing to experiment with pace and instruments to make quite a unique sound.

This is The Beginning shows off the delicate vocals of group and they harmonise beautifully to produce to make a delicate sounding track that is the beginning of a fantastic journey.

They pick up the pace with Waitress and once again there is some really quirky instrumentation on this track that really does give it that feel good factor.

There is a real mix of sounds on this album including pop as well as a bit of light jazz and you can hear the likes of Bon Iver and Feist in there as well

There is a sweet surface to their music but there some really interesting twists underneath as they mix up the pacing of the likes of Little Numbers, going from a slow opening before the beat and the instrumentation really kicks in.

Tradition pop instruments such as piano, guitar and drums are all present throughout the record but Boy are not afraid to thrown in something a little less mainstream of interesting compositions to give tracks that quirky extra element - Drive Darling is a perfect example.

But what works so well is the chemistry between Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass their vocals mix together beautifully and throughout their vocals are supported by some stunning music.

Mutual Friends is just such an easy album to listen to as this is neat and clear music that you can’t help but get swept along with.

Boy is a duo with a lot of musical talent and this is an intimate and personal record about an incredible journey that we are all invited to go on.
