Centre Excuse paid Female First Towers a little visit earlier this summer and now the trio are back with their new EP Generation Z.
If you are not familiar with the band and are expecting a run of the mill indie/pop sound with this new record then you couldn’t be more wrong.
The have blended rock with electronica and dance elements to produce a collection of tracks that have a unique sound to them.
MTV Generation is the opening track on the album and you get the electronic element of their sound before the guitars really kick in.
And these are two sounds that really go well together an MTV Generation is the catchiest track on the EP.
There is a real energy and passion in this track and Teddy Lewis shows off his strong vocal that more than stands up against the heavily produced backtrack.
Centre Excuse get their sound by layering rhythms and melodies and backing that up with incredibly catchy and sometimes heartfelt lyrics.
And Don’t Let Go is the perfect example of this as this track contains all of those elements - not to mention it is another song that you won’t be able to get out of your head.
There is a great electronic introduction to Where Do We Go before we hear Lewis’s deep vocal in all of its glory.
The lower end of his voice really is incredibly rich and it proves to be the perfect start to the song before the guitars kick in.
Generation Z is a great introduction to Centre Excuse as they bring their own brand of rock and roll to the music scene.
The boys exude confidence and energy throughout the six songs and you can’t help but get swept away in the excitement that is present on every track.
Centre Excuse has delivered a unique sounding EP and the boys could well have a very bright future ahead of them.
