ShowBizHeroes are an Alternative Rock band that are destined for a great future, with euphonious melodies, catchy hooks and a clear amount of talented song writing oozing through their lyrics, they are certainly hitting the nail right on the head.

Tales From Behind The Curtain is their self-recorded debut album and has some real diamonds amongst the twelve tracks including an atmospheric dark track simply titled 21, a feel-good ballad called Thinking & Drinking and the guitar riddled anthem Sinner.

The first track on the album is titled Tomorrow Never Goldfinger and is a good start to the album, with guitar fused hooks and rock and roll drum beats that make me think of the likes of Muse and The Artic Monkeys. Just Out Of Reach is the next track on the album and is a slow and soft rock ballad with chimes and piano elements that lift out the notes of the melody.

Saving Grace starts with an infectious baseline that builds up as the vocals incorporate into the melody, then the electric guitar kicks in and the track bursts into a catchy chorus with lyrics like ‘Don’t ever, don’t ever walk too far. I will find you, I will find you…’

Sinner is definitely one of my favourite tracks on the album and has the most captivating chorus out of the selection of songs presented on the album. It has several good reviews because it was primarily released as a single before the album was released. NME radio said that ‘Sinner is flipping brilliant!!!’ and Room Thirteen said that the song is ‘Short and sweet with a hook laden centre that won’t fail to snare all.’

L.O is the next track on the album and one of my favourite lines was ‘Your eyes are as dark as my soul’ and I really liked the desirable melody and profound lyrics. Thinking and Drinking has a different feel to it than the other songs, the melody is spirited and exhilarating. The lyrics in the chorus ‘I’d try for you, I’d die for you, I’d cry for you…’ was gripping.

Maybe She’s An Angel starts with a few basic major guitar chords then an overlay of a simple piano melody which is stripped down compared to the other songs on the album, it was one of my personal favourites and I really loved the lyrics ‘I spent all of my time wasting away, the cold creeps in the rest turns to grey.’ I loved the vocals in this song too; the lead vocalist’s falsetto was heavenly.

The upbeat numbers return then with a track named Henry’s Song which is another catchy hook filled song with great potential for radio play. 21 is another one of my favourites on the album, it is darker than some of the other tracks on the album but it makes a nice contrast from the slower ballads like Maybe She’s An Angel.

I think that the song 21 reveals the intelligence behind their song writing and has a lot of potential to become a success in its own right. With a hypnotic beat and a guitar driven melody the song is ferocious, catchy and powerful.

Climb To Fall is another upbeat alternative rock track oozing with charisma and musicality. This Is How It Feels (To Be Wrong) stands out for me because of the echoed vocals in the beginning and the melody is a different style to the other tracks but it is different in a good way.

The song that closes the album is titled Storm In A Teacup which is another heartfelt ballad with lyrics such as ‘You say I’m confusing, you’re constantly assuming.’ It is a good way to end the album with a downbeat track contrasting with the choice of an upbeat track opening the album.

I really enjoyed the guitar fuelled tracks and the soft rock ballads on this album. ShowBizHeroes have been receiving critical acclaim left, right and centre but I believe with this album they will rocket to success. It is a must have record of the year.
