Meursault are on the verge of releasing their third studio album and Flittin’ is the first of the tracks from that album.
And a new single sees the band take on a new sound as the synths that we are so familiar with are gone and replaced by piano and a fantastic string arrangement.
It’s a towering vocal performance from Neil Pennycook and the emotion is pumped into the track with ever single word he sings.
The stripped back song not only shows off the beauty and earthy tones of Pennycook’s voice but it also shows off his heart-wrenching lyrics.
There is a soaring melancholic feel to this track and that is thanks to the beautiful instrumentation - the strings on this really are fantastic.
The B-side of this track is a piano version of the track which is even more stripped back and powerful than the single.
The piano is the perfect accompaniment to Pennycook’s vocals as they really are allowed to take centre stage.
Meursault - Flittin’ is out now
