I just want to get my voice heard again and to allow people to know me outside of a group situation. I also want young girls who look up to me to know not to give up, even when people try and take you away from your destiny. LeToya EMI Records is proud to present the debut solo album by US R&B star LeToya. As an original member of Destinys Child, LeToya co-wrote the groups signature songs Bills Bills Bills and Say My Name. Now, with her self-titled solo album, the powerful singer wants millions of her fans to be saying her name all over again. Thats why after a few years away from the music industry spotlight, the singer felt that naming her album LeToya would be the best way to reintroduce herself. Its the worlds first time hearing me and getting to know me as a solo artist, she says, so what better way to get them to know me than call it LeToya? LeToya Luckett met Beyonce Knowles in elementary school back in their native Houston and together they became the integral members of the original Destinys Child, writing many of the groups earliest hits together. LeToya was in Destinys Child for seven years as they broke through to become one of the biggest acts on the planet with their second album The Writings On The Wall, which sold over 1 million copies in the UK, became certified eight-times platinum in the US and chalked up over 12 million sales around the world. Now shes back with her own album, featuring the US hit single Torn which has already topped the urban charts in the US and is riding high with thirteen weeks in the Billboard Hot 100. Its also topped the US R&B airplay chart and the Chris Robinson-directed video has been a huge success hitting #1 on the BET chart and winning massive rotation across VH1 Soul and MTV Hits amongst many other channels. LeToya is a dynamic, enticing mixture of songs and styles that reflects the many facets of its namesake, who penned all the tracks but one. Torn is the most emotional and personal song on the album, concerning a woman who finds herself at a critical juncture in a strained relationship, whilst on Gangsta Grillz, an innovative screwed-R&B hybrid that features Mike Jones and Killa Kyleon, LeToya salutes her hometown of Houston, where she runs the successful clothing and accessory store Lady Elle. In the upbeat, Scott Storch-produced Im Good she cuts loose a no-good man while This Song, produced by Jermaine Dupri and written by Johnta Austin and Brian Michael Cox, finds her in the mood for love once more. And taking it back to the dancefloor, LeToya delivers two more uptempo cuts, Tear Da Club Up with Bun B and Jazze Pha and All Eyes On Me, which features Paul Wall.0Comments | Be the first to comment!
