I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but now it seems fans have the opportunity to become the new Smashing pumpkins drummer after leader Billy Corgan has announced auditions for a new bandmate.

The dust has barely settled on Jimmy Chamberlin’s cymbals and the band are already eager to fill his spot, so much so that open auditions will take place on 10 April in Los Angeles.

Corgan has announced he'll be reviewing performance web links sent to PumpkinsDrummer@gmail.com next month and picking those he wants to audition on 10 April.

Chamberlin quit the group earlier this month, explaining he was no longer "into" the band and its music.
