Dr Alex Hodge, a consultant gastroenterologist and liver disease specialist at Monash Health, says that coffee fix your booze damaged liver and give you a couple of extra years to live.

Coffee

A study was conducted by Hodge and her colleagues where over a thousand patients with either hepatitis C, hepatitis B or a fatty liver were observed. The fatty liver is the one most commonly caused by a heavy alcohol consumption.

What their findings show is that three cups of coffee a day seem to have a positive impact on these subjects' livers. The biggest improvement was noted in the hepatitis C patients, so you should probably combine coffee with a good diet and exercise if you're from the fatty liver category.

The exact reason why coffee is good for these damaged livers is unknown. The effects of caffeine is already well documented, so it falls on coffee's other chemicals and ingredients as the fix for your damaged liver.
