The "Walkie-Talkie" building was crowned champion in Building Design's annual Carbuncle Cup after it received the majority vote.

Formally known as 20 Fenchurch Street, the building's top-heavy bulge is just one of its unflattering characteristics. Thomas Lane, one of the organisers of the awards said that the monstrosity "crashed into London's skyline like an unwelcome party guest."

He then added: "It bulges out towards the top in a cynical move to maximise the amount of high-value space at the upper levels, in defiance of the principle tall buildings should taper elegantly inwards or at least feature parallel sides."

The building has had a tough time since the designs were first revealed in 2006, where it received heavy criticism including strong objections from UNESCO and English Heritage, said Sky News.

An incident in 2013 didn't help the building's image either, where sunlight reflecting off of the concave glass melted parts of a Jaguar sports car.
