Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm was shocked when she gave birth to baby daughter Scarlett last month - because she had premonitions the tot would be a boy.

Despite yearning to find out the sex of her first child with partner Thomas Starr, the couple decided to leave it a surprise until the birth.

But the singer secretly suspected she was expecting a boy, after having recurring dreams about a revealing scan of her baby.

Chisholm explains, "I surprised myself by wanting a surprise. I was even having nightmares that in the scan I saw a little willy or something."

Mel is the last of the five Spice Girls to have a baby.
